Château des Baux

On top of a rocky spur in the heart of the Alpilles, the Château des Baux spans 5 hectares in one of France’s most majestic locations. A designated Historic Monument, the Château commands a magnificent view of Provence, from Aix to Arles and beyond.

During a self-guided tour which is available in 10 languages (French, English, German, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, Japanese, Russian, Chinese, Portuguese), visitors can learn about the turbulent and chaotic past of the Lords of Les Baux and their medieval fortress through the keep, the Sarrazine and Paravelle towers, the lordly dovecote and the Château chapel.

Photo exhibition: Piet Mondrian

From 15 April
Eechoing the show at the Carrières des Lumières, stroll freely through the works of the painter Piet Mondrian wandering around some ten large-format panels.

Escape Game: The mystery of Alix, last Lady of Les Baux

In teams of 2 to 6 people, carry out the investigation, explore the Château’s remains and discover the mysteries surrounding Alix’s will by solving a series of puzzles and challenges.

Quiqueran garden: New this spring 2023

Nestled in the grounds of the old village arena and set at the foot of the remains of the 16th century charity hospital, the garden is inspired by the codes of the medieval garden, loaded with symbols and divided into different areas, each of which contains a particular atmosphere.

A Season at the Castle

16 April to 1 May – 15 July to 31 August
A play on the Treaty of Peronne, crossbow shooting, demonstrations of war machines and guided tours will give you the keys to understanding the rich history of this important place in Provence through numerous anecdotes.

Concert at the Château des Baux

19th May at 5.30 pm
Concert of film music by the group Les Bowstroopers. Relive the musical emotions of films such as The Lord of the Rings, Gladiator, Game of Thrones, The Witcher, Kaamelott, Assassin’s Creed, Skyrim or Braveheart in the setting of the Château.
