On top of a rocky spur in the heart of the Alpilles, the Château des Baux spans 5 hectares in one of France’s most majestic locations. A designated Historic Monument, the Château commands a magnificent view of Provence, from Aix to Arles and beyond.

Mirroring the programme at the Carrières de Lumières, the Château des Baux will offer visitors the opportunity to stroll freely through the life and works of the painter Wassily Kandinsky (1866, Moscow – 1944, Neuilly-sur-Seine). Father figure of modern art, his theoretical writings and pictural experiments opened the way to abstract art.

Have fun as you learn about the history of the Château des Baux-de-Provence! In teams of 2 to 6 people, put on your amateur sleuth’s suit, explore the remains of the Château and discover the mysteries surrounding.
3 to 5 April
Celebrate Easter at Les Baux de Provence! An Easter egg hunt for your children on Sunday 4 April. Come and listen to the Eastertime storytelling-conferences.
10 April to 9 May
In addition to the possibility of grasping the rich history of Les Baux with the guided tours and of testing your skills with a crossbow, you can also make the most of the presence of the master falconers between 24 April and 2 May who, besides demonstration flights, will offer you the opportunity to discuss and discover the beauty and vulnerability of these birds of prey.
13 to 16 May and Whitsun and 22 to 24 May
Falconry Show with three performances a day and the possibility of exchanging with the master falconers to find out all about the beauty and vulnerability of these kings of the skies. Crossbow shooting, workshops on siege engines and guided tours of the site.
6 July to 29 August
Falconry Show from 11 to 31 July. In addition, until 29 August, crossbow shooting, demonstrations of war machines and interventions by the master at arms during a lively tour that will give you the keys for understanding the rich history of this important site in Provence through numerous anecdotes.
23 to 31 October
The culinary arts in Alix des Baux’s day. Get together with our speaker-storytellers who will reveal many of the secrets of the culinary arts in the 15th century, at the time of the last Dame des Baux.
