Discover the unique and remarkable character of the place and reveal its minerals. The quarries were dug out over the years to extract the limestone.
Masterpieces are projected onto the huge walls, pillars and floors of the quarry. They transport you to colourful worlds with music. Over a hundred video projectors project images onto more than 7,000 m² of floor space.
Following the success of Cosmos, the Carrières de Lumières are launching a series of special evenings devoted to the portrait photographs of the famous Jimmy Nelson.
Join us this year for an encounter with Les Gardiens de l’Humanité. During the Carrières de Lumières special evenings, enjoy the digital exhibition Les Gardiens de l’Humanité, the first immersive creation based on hundreds of photographs by the famous artist Jimmy Nelson.
A forty-minute journey to the heart of the world’s last indigenous cultures and landscapes, The Guardians of Humanity celebrates the diversity of these peoples who live in harmony with nature.
By organising this immersive exhibition, Culturespaces is providing financial support to the Jimmy Nelson Foundation, which works to bring the world’s peoples together to preserve humanity’s natural and cultural heritage.
