Carrières des Lumières

Discover the unique and remarkable character of the place and reveal its minerals. The quarries were dug out over the years to extract the limestone.

Masterpieces are projected onto the huge walls, pillars and floors of the quarry. They transport you to colourful worlds with music. Over a hundred video projectors project images onto more than 7,000 m² of floor space.

Each year, Carrières des Lumières offers you an extraordinary experience by immersing you in the work of great figures in modern and contemporary painting.

This year, the Carrières des Lumières in Les Baux-de-Provence invite visitors to enjoy an exceptional immersive experience at the heart of Pablo Picasso’s work.

The artist is revealed through a monumental journey in which images, colours and music unfold across the limestone walls, showcasing the full power and freedom of his creative expression.

This experience offers a unique encounter with one of the absolute masters of modern art, in a spectacular setting designed for all generations.

**Frida Kahlo, in the Heart**

To dive into Frida Kahlo’s universe is to step into the heart of a fiery, vibrant life, shaped by passion, freedom and pain.

The immersive Frida Kahlo experience invites visitors to journey through the intimacy and creative शक्ति of the Mexican artist (1907–1954), in an explosion of colours, symbols and emotions.
