According to legend, the magician king Balthazar, after depositing his gifts in the manger in Bethlehem, continued his journey following the sixteen-pointed silver comet.
Let’s delve into the legendary story of Balthazar, one of the three Magi, the one who followed a star much further than the others.
After their journey to celebrate the birth of baby Jesus, Melchior, Gaspard and Balthazar returned to their respective kingdoms.
But Balthazar, the Magi King from the East, noticed something strange: while the star of Bethlehem had gone out for everyone else, it continued to shine for him. Intrigued, Balthazar set off on a new journey.
Crossing vast deserts and rough seas, he followed this luminous star to Provence. His path led him right here, to Les Baux.
Over the centuries, this story has been passed down through the ages, and even today, the spirit of Balthazar seems to watch over Les Baux-de-Provence. Follow the guide through the village in the footsteps of the legend.
