Sunday 18 July, Col de la Vayède, Castle site, from 10:30 AM IN 1426, the testament of the princess Alix des Baux is mentioning an alabaster statue of Saint Christopher in the chapel of the castle. Five centuries later, the Association of Saint Christopher is established in the church of the village in order to perpetuate the devotion. It allocates the church of Saint-Vincent with a saint's statue.
Thus, a car blessing has been taking place each year at the end of July since the 1930s. The cars were blessed when they crossed the Col de la Vayède by the Priest of the Baux. A mass would then gather all the participants in the church of the village.
To take back and perpetuate this tradition, the Ecurie 1900 has been putting back this blessing in force for about ten years. Coming from Fontvieille, the cars were blessed when passing at the same place than before. After that, the vehicles reach the site of the castle of the Baux through the Grand Rue where an open-air mass is celebrated.
